CSY Architects secured planning approval for improvements at Kelso Races

They are really pleased to have secured planning approval for improvements at Kelso Races – a project that has been all about striking the right balance between operational needs and protecting what makes this place special.

The proposals bring forward new jockey facilities and a flexible events base, supporting the day-to-day running of the racecourse while opening up future opportunities for wider use.

The design takes its cues from the existing grandstand, with a simple arched entrance creating a clear sense of arrival and connection to the site’s heritage. Set low into the landscape at parade ring level, the building is deliberately modest – improving accessibility and function without competing with its surroundings.

It’s a positive step forward and they are looking forward to bringing this to life alongside the Kelso Races and the project team.
