New Partner, Helen Kidd Joins Lindsays Charities And Third Sector Team

9th June 2022

Lindsays welcomes experienced lawyer, Helen Kidd who joins their highly respected Charities and Third Sector team. Helen has joined Lindsays as a Partner and will work with a range of third sector organisations from across the country.

Helen is accredited as a specialist in charity law by the Law Society of Scotland and is herself a charity trustee, having sat on the board of a national youth work organisation and currently on the board of an independent school. Her experience includes supporting the setting up, merging and winding up of charities, as well as advising on issues relating to governance, charity tax, trustee training and dealing with wide-ranging regulatory issues throughout the sector.

Helen said: “I am delighted to be joining Lindsays, having been attracted by the strong reputation the firm has for its work across the third sector and the focus it places in providing targeted, specialist support.

“As charities and social enterprises adjust to life in a world shaped by the legacy of the Covid-19 pandemic and its continued challenges, the need for them to have carefully considered, expert legal advice has never been more important.

“Scotland's third sector is renowned for its innovation, passion, and generosity. For it to operate and evolve effectively, it must be governed well - with the best people, policies and processes in place. Our work helps them achieve all of that and much more.”

Lindsays Managing Partner, Alasdair Cummings, said: “We always strive to recruit the highest calibre of lawyers - and attracting Helen to join us is a further demonstration of that.

“As a firm, we are extremely proud of the work of our Charities and Third Sector department and the regard with which our team is held.

“The third sector plays a critical role in Scottish life and business. I am sure Helen’s experience, enthusiasm and counsel will prove invaluable to our clients as they navigate their way through issues caused by coronavirus and look to the future.”

Lindsays is well regarded for its work with charities and not-for-profit organisations, advising a vast array of clients on all aspects of governance, reorganisation and constitutional issues, as well as in areas including employment and property law. These range from major national charities to community trusts. Among the organisations which Lindsays supports with training and insight is the Association of Chief Officers of Scottish Voluntary Organisations (ACOSVO).
