Finalists announced for Midlothian & East Lothian Business Awards 2023

28th February 2023

The finalists have been announced for this year’s prestigious Midlothian & East Lothian Business Awards 2023, after judges spent hours whittling down the large number of entries for the 2023 awards, which are run annually by Midlothian & East Lothian Chamber of Commerce.

The glittering ceremony – which will take place at The Brunton on 29th March -  celebrates the exceptional accomplishments of organisations across East Lothian and Midlothian.

Gary Donlin, Stakeholder Engagement Manager at SSE Renewables, the headline sponsor, said: “The Midlothian & East Lothian Business Awards holds a unique place at the heart of the business community in East Lothian and Midlothian. SSE Renewables are pleased to lend our support to the awards and all of the brilliant work being carried out by businesses, from all sectors, and of all sizes, across the regions. We are currently proposing to build Berwick Bank Wind Farm, the largest offshore Wind Farm currently in development in the UK with a proposed connection in East Lothian. We are keen to work alongside the Midlothian & East Lothian Chamber of Commerce to maximise local opportunities where possible should the Project be granted consent.’

SSE Renewables provides energy needed today and is building a better world of energy for tomorrow through the world class operation, development, and construction of renewable energy assets. We're committed to delivering the green energy the world needs now and in the future. Our 13GW+ construction and development pipeline includes 3.5GW of onshore wind, 1.5GW of pumped storage, and 8.4GW of offshore wind energy - the largest offshore development pipeline in the UK and Ireland.

Chamber Chief Executive, Karen Ritchie, thanked everyone who had entered the awards and said the most hotly contested categories had included Micro Business of the Year, SME of the Year and Best Community Impact.

She said: “Despite some really challenging trading conditions, it’s been incredibly encouraging to see so many positive applications from business across the region – they are doing some great work and we are honoured to be able to highlight that through these awards.”

DYW Edinburgh, Midlothian & East Lothian, Hargreaves Land, Network ROI, Tenet & You, Thomson Cooper and EDF Torness are among the key sponsors of the event.
