The popular county magazine East Lothian Life has been shortlisted for the prestigious Periodical Publishers Association (Scotland) Scottish Magazines Award 2009, in the category ‘Best Small Publishing Company’. The award ceremony will be held at Our Dynamic Earth on Thursday 26 November and the climax of the evening will be the announcement of Scotland’s Magazine of the Year 2009. East Lothian Life will be vying with high quality magazines from all over Scotland for the top award. The remit of the distinguished panel of judges, from the world of publishing and chaired by Mike Soutar, founder and Managing Director of Shortlist Media, is to identify and reward publishing excellence in Scotland.

This year, East Lothian Life celebrated its twentieth birthday as the county’s quarterly magazine. It was the brainchild of Editor, Pauline Jaffray, who lives in Dunbar. The launching of East Lothian Life in 1989 was the realization of a long-standing ambition for Pauline to establish a quality magazine, which holds the community at its heart. The magazine provides a unique record of both change and continuity within the county, highlighting East Lothian’s distinctive culture and heritage. Pauline’s tireless commitment to producing a magazine packed with wide ranging, carefully researched and well-written articles has earned her the loyalty of contributors, advertisers, distributors and readers alike.

Pauline’s contribution in promoting and supporting local business and community was recognized earlier this year when she received a Local Business Hero Award from East and Midlothian Chamber of Commerce.

Pauline Jaffray is ‘delighted East Lothian Life has been shortlisted for such a prestigious award in the Scottish publishing industry’ and added, ‘it is so rewarding to see the combined efforts of all who help with East Lothian Life being recognized’.
